Slow Cooker Italian Meatball Recipe

Slow Cooker Italian Meatball Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef

  • 2 lbs ground Italian sausage

  • 2 large eggs, lightly beaten

  • 1 cup fresh bread crumbs

  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese, additional for topping

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 1/3 cup fresh parsley, chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic minced

  • 1 teaspoon sea salt

  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano

  • 1 teaspoon dried basil

  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes, optional

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or butter

  • 3-4 cups marinara sauce

Directions

  1. Start by mixing together in a large bowl ground beef, ground italian sausage, eggs, bread crumbs, parmesan cheese, onion, parsley, garlic, sea salt, black pepper, oregano, and basil. Once well mixed wash hands and heat your slow cooker pan (if detachable) on medium-high heat on stove top.

  2. While pan heats up roll your meat mixture into around 1.5 inch balls and place on a plate. Once pan is evenly heated add in 2 tablespoons of olive oil and begin to heat your meatballs until crisp around the entire ball. You may need to do this in shifts depending on pan size.

  3. Once all balls are crispy on the outside place the slow cooker pan back on the base and add marinara and balls into slow cooker. Cook for 4-5 hours on medium heat.

  4. Once your meat balls are cooked serve on top of your favorite pasta or alongside your favorite side dishes. Sprinkle with additional parmesan cheese or parsley if desired. Enjoy!
